Redstone Commodity Search are working with an international metal trading house looking to hire a Vice President, Traffic Operations / Logistics (Metals) to join their US branch.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Assume leadership over the global physical operations of the group, ensuring excellent management and guidance for back and middle-office personnel (execution of physical contracts, logistics, inventory, overall process documentation etc.)
  • Assist with the implementation and company-wide roll out of the Group’s new CTRM platform – help manage all aspects of finalisation and ensuring all relevant desks (trading, risk, operations etc.) are participating effectively
  • Oversee shipping department, port operations and vessels and ensure timely handling of all trade contract and logistics related issues (freight, chartering/vessel nominations, laytime and demurrage calculations, storage, and cost accrual updates), as well as negotiate global cargo marine insurance policy
  • Oversee US Customs and Regulatory compliance, providing necessary training to traders in compliance with relevant metal exchanges that are traded on
  • Work closely with the ESG and Accounting / Credit teams to ensure timely reporting for sustainability and audits
  • Monitor and review staffing needs of the Group, acting accordingly upon consistent evaluation of business needs

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • Extensive experience within physical commodity operations / logistics, preferably working for a metal trading house (ideally non-ferrous e.g. aluminum, copper, zinc, nickel etc.)
  • Demonstrated managerial expertise over back office / physical operations teams
  • Complete understanding of transportation and full trade lifecycle of physical goods (including knowledge of INCOTERMS, Letters of Credit etc.), ideally across dry-bulk products - again metals experience is an advantage
  • Experience with CTRM systems, understanding of how software can be utilised to enhance efficiency and optimise logistical procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees of all levels and cultures within an international business
  • Located in Stamford, USA or willing to relocate (must be authorised to work for any employer in the US)
